Police investigate theft of ATVs from a Huron Shores garage

OPP say stolen items were worth a total of $22,250

The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating a break and enter from a property in Huron Shores. Police say that two ATVs were stolen, valued at a total of $20,250, as well as a boat motor worth $2,000, sometime between Saturday and Monday of this week. A description of the stolen items from the OPP reads as follows:

MUNICIPALITY OF HURON SHORES - On June 22, 2020, shortly before 1:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter that occurred sometime between Saturday June 20, 2020 and Monday June 22, 2020, at a property in the Municipality of Huron Shores.   

Investigation determined forced entry was made through porch doors. Once inside the residence the suspect(s) entered the garage through a connected man door. 

Description and value of property stolen:

  • 2009 green Yamaha Grizzly ATV with a black/red Grizzly insignia-value $9,450.
  • 2011 green Yamaha Grizzly ATV with a blue/red Grizzly insignia-value $10,800.

Both ATVs have winches, very low mileage, axe holders with axes, chains with chain bolts in the storage compartments. Bungee's attached with steel slings (to tie around a tree if you get stuck) and Pillar Manufacturing Reflective decals on the gas tanks.

  • 5 HP Briggs and Stratton outboard motor with model number AA0101000101. Possibly also Type 254427-4028-01 that has a value of $2,000.

Black in color, white choke lever is broken, the clamp that holds the motor to the boat, left hand side looking at the motor there is a washer that is broken. The outside cover of the pull chain has wear along the pull line (attached photo is similar to the outboard motor that was stolen).
