Union Gas supports Algoma District Paramedic Services with a $1,500 grant to purchase CO alarms.

"At Union Gas, safety governs everything we do, whether we are building a pipeline or installing a gas meter at your home," said Brent Belec, utility services manager Sault Ste. Marie, Union Gas. "Because of our safety culture, we make it a priority to support our local safety partners, helping to save lives in the community."

Algoma District Paramedic Services (ADPS) is operated by the Algoma District Services Administration Board (ADSAB) and has its headquarters located in Elliot Lake. ADPS provides emergency prehospital care to the Algoma District covering approximately 59,000 sq. kms. ADPS has 20 ambulances and emergency response vehicles and a staff of 72 paramedics who work at eight bases located across the district.

“This generous donation from Union gas will help protect both the public as well as our paramedics when entering areas where CO may be present. Paramedics will have these CO detectors attached to equipment that they carry on every call. Health and safety of our paramedics is always a priority for our organization,” said Henry Alamenciak, paramedic chief, Algoma District Paramedic Service.
