Paddlers highlight waterfront

Blind River resident Kristy Blanchet organized an annual kayaking event along the town’s rejuvenated waterfront

Blind River resident Kristy Blanchet organized an annual kayaking event along the town’s rejuvenated waterfront.

Last Friday she invited paddlers to decorate their kayaks with lights to draw attention to what the waterfront has to offer and promote it.

Paddlers met at the kayak cradle docks installed this year. The route started at the fountain and moved on to Dawsey Bridge before returning.

"This event is free to participate and a second evening (weather permitting) will be announced for August,” she said.

Blanchet is well-known for organizing the annual and popular Witches Dance held each October with its colourful costumes and intricate dance steps. It will again be held this October.
