Ontario reports 563 new COVID cases Friday

Included in the new cases today are 259 unvaccinated, 15 partially vaccinated, and 249 fully vaccinated people

Public Health Ontario reported 563 new COVID cases today.

The latest updates noted 352 recoveries and five new deaths.

The Nov. 5 updates provided by the province's public health agency and the ministry of health also reported the following data:

  • 3,395 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 3,189 yesterday. 
  • 225 people are hospitalized with COVID-19.
  • There are 109 COVID-positive patients in the ICU plus another 20 patients no longer testing positive for COVID-19.
  • There are 67 COVID-positive patients on ventilators and another 14 patients on ventilators no longer testing positive for COVID. 
  • 11,063,495 Ontarians (about 74 per cent of the total population) have been fully vaccinated. 88 per cent of eligible Ontarians have at least one dose of vaccine.
  • Included in the new cases today are 259 unvaccinated, 15 partially vaccinated, and 249 fully vaccinated people. 40 cases were reported with vaccination status unknown. 
  • Among the ICU cases are 59 unvaccinated, two partially vaccinated and 12 fully vaccinated people. 
  • Those hospitalized with COVID (but not in the ICU) include 83 unvaccinated, 12 partially vaccinated, and 57 fully vaccinated people. 
  • The seven-day average incidence rate by vaccination status is six cases per 100,000 unvaccinated people, 2.4 cases per 100,000 partially vaccinated people, and 1.4 cases per 100,000 fully vaccinated people.
  • The province reported 30,187 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.8 per cent positivity rate.
  • Of the new cases reported today, 44 are from Toronto, 44 are from Peel, 49 are from Simcoe-Muskoka, and 52 are from York Region.
  • Today's new cases include 102 individuals under 12 years old, 37 youth between 12 and 19 years old, 170 people between 20 and 39 years old, 144 people between 40 and 59 years old, 75 people between 60 and 79 years old, and 36 people over 79 years old.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 602,087 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 588,796 recoveries and 9,896 deaths.

Since the start of the pandemic, 30,685 people have been hospitalized with COVID and 6,014 of them were in intensive care units.

The cumulative average incidence rate in the province is 4,086.4 cases per 100,000 people in Ontario.

Ontario's average weekly incidence rate last week was 17.9 cases per 100,000 people, which is up by 7.2 per cent compared to the week of Oct. 20.

Northern Ontario 

In Northern Ontario, the breakdown of Public Health Ontario data is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 554 cases, weekly rate of 30.5 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 556 cases. There are 49 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 86 per cent have both doses.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 835 cases, weekly rate of 3.1 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 837 cases. There are 30 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 87 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 2,231 cases, weekly rate of 4.7  cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,232 cases. There are 9 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 90 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 84 per cent have both doses.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 2,922 cases, weekly rate of 78 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 2,962 cases. There are 203 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 91 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 87 per cent have both doses.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 251 cases, weekly rate of 8.9 cases per 100,000 people.  The health unit has reported 253 cases. There are 9 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 88 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 84 per cent have both doses.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 1,198 cases, weekly rate of 4.9 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 1,197 cases. There are 5 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 89 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 83 per cent have both doses.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 3,436 cases, weekly rate of 8.9 cases per 100,000 people. The health unit has reported 3,438 cases. There are 23 known active cases. Of the eligible population 12 years and older, 93 per cent of people have at least one dose of the vaccine and 89 per cent have both doses.
