One new fire in the northeast region

One new wildfire has been confirmed as of this afternoon, the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry said in a release today.

  • Kirkland Lake 7, located on a peninsula on Gowganda Lake, five kilometres west of Wilson Lake, and two kilometres southeast of Milner lake, is a 0.3 hectare fire. It is not under control.

There is one other active wildland fire in the Northeast Region, which is being observed.

The fire hazard is low to moderate in the southern part of the region, from Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury to Georgian Bay and Pembroke. The fire hazard is moderate to high from Temiskaming Shores up to the Far North.
