THUNDER BAY — A man from the Timmins area is in trouble for going over the limit on the water, and going over the limit on the road, during a fishing trip to Northwestern Ontario.

Thunder Bay police allege that he was not only caught speeding on the weekend, but he was also caught in possession of about 40 more walleye than Ontario law permits.

He first came to the attention of a traffic unit officer Saturday on Dawson Road, where a pickup truck was observed travelling faster than the 50 kilometre per hour speed limit.

The driver, a resident of South Porcupine, said he was returning home from a fishing getaway in the Sioux Lookout area.

It turned out that he'd had so much success on the water that he'd reeled in dozens more walleye than regulations allow.

Police and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry are continuing their investigations, and charges are pending.
