Some people might ask "What has changed?"

Nearly 18 months after Elliot Lake City Council passed a motion to remove him from council's standing committees, Monday night Mayor Dan Marchisella will present a motion that could lead to Coun. Chris Patrie's reinstatement.

In his written submission to be presented to the virtual council meeting the Mayor states, "Whereas; on November 25, 2019 Special Council Meeting, Council received I.C. report on Councillor Chris Patrie CofC investigation,

"And Whereas; Council passed the following: Res. 432/19 - That the Integrity Commissioner recommendations (Part 2) concerning Councillor Patrie Subverting Council re: the purchase of 151 Ontario Avenue and related conduct contrary to Section 6.2 of the Code of Conduct be received

"And that Council endorse the recommended sanctions by imposing that Councillor Patrie be removed from any and all municipal committees, boards, or commissions, except those that consist of all members of Council.

"And whereas; Council has indicated a desire to reinstate Councillor Patrie to standing committees,

"Be it resolved that council waive the restriction of Councillor Patrie being removed from all municipal committees to allow re-appointment to municipal standing committes only."

During the March 22 council meeting, Mayor Marchisella submitted the names of Councillors to serve as replacements for Patrie for the remainder of the Council term.

Monday's meeting will be held at 7 p.m. and live streamed on the City of Elliot website while being simulcast by Eastlink Cable on Community Channel 10.
