Work continues on Fishing Pier Project (7 photos)

Expect periodic closures of the boat launch area through the summer

Another phase of the Elliot Lake Fishing Pier Project got underway Tuesday morning when Kropf Industries Inc. of Owen Sound arrived on site with a number of land vehicles, a crane, and a marine transport vehicle, plus lots of construction materials.

Kropf, the contractor, arrived at the Elliot Lake boat launch with workers, the equipment and materials to start adding finger docks to the already installed T-shaped main fishing pier structure, extending into Elliot Lake at the boat launch site off Highway 108.

"The boat docks are going in this week. Next will be the shade sails and then the replacement of the launch area. They're here to start work on the next portion of the project," Elliot Lake City Councillor Tom Turner said on social media. "The landscaping follows."

City of Elliot Lake CAO Daniel Gagnon earlier told ElliotLakeToday the boat launch area will be subject to periodic closures through the summer as the pier extension construction continues. The work is expected to be completed by late summer.
