Blind River Mayor Sally Hagman pointed out several festive activities with the Christmas season in her address to council Monday evening. She also mentioned the successful Santa Claus parade that took place in town last Friday evening.

“Last Friday night many Blind Riverites and friends came out to witness the magic of the holiday season with the annual Santa Claus parade,” she said in her address. “I would like to say thank you to all of the participants who put together amazing floats as well as those who dressed up for this special event. I’d also like to thank the residents of Woodward Avenue for having their holiday lights on. Special thanks goes out to Santa for taking time out of his busy schedule to the delight of many of our children both young and young at heart.”

“This Friday the magic continues with Moonlight Madness taking place compliments of the Blind River and District Chamber of Commerce and the many merchants in our community. It’s a chance to shop local, get your passport stamped and possibly win a prize of indescribable value.”

“I have it from a reliable source that Santa Claus will be returning to Blind River. Pictures of your child with Santa are being taken this Friday evening from 6-8 p.m at Scotia Bank,” she added. “These pictures are given to you compliments of Scotia Bank. It’s a great opportunity to capture this memorable occasion.”

“Our Blind River Beavers (Junior A hockey team) will be back at the arena this weekend so come out to see our guys in action. With the holiday season gearing up we look forward to seeing you at all the incredible events happening in our community!
