Algoma Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha has been appointed Caucus Chair by Ontario party leader and provincial opposition chief Andrea Horwath.  She says Mantha's election to his new post represents a great addition to the Ontario NDP team. With the NDP training a number of newly-minted MPPs following the June 8 provincial election, the caucus chair is a position that provides leadership to the MPPs, fulfilling duties like chairing internal caucus discussions on bills and priorities.

"It's an honour to be chosen by my colleagues as caucus chair,” he said.

Mantha has represented Algoma-Manitoulin since 2011. He is also the party critic for Northern Development and Mines, Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, and Tourism, Culture and Sports.
