Greater Sudbury Police say they have arrested a man wanted in connection to a Toronto shooting.

Yesterday evening, Nov. 2, police received information that an individual wanted in connection to a shooting in Toronto was potentially in Greater Sudbury.

Detectives from the police service’s Integrated Crime Section began an investigation into the information that the man was believed to be inside a residence on Eva Avenue in the Donovan.

Upon confirming that the man was inside the residence, members of the GSPS Emergency Response Unit arrived on scene and quickly set up containment of the residence.

Shortly after 6:15 p.m., a 22-year-old man was taken into custody by members of our ERU without incident. He will appear in court in Toronto in order to answer to the charges.

Police also issued a reminder to community members to please not take and post live photos or videos of officers while they are on scene.

Posting live photos or videos of our officers on containment significantly increases the risk to our officers and to our community, said the press release.

“We are there to keep you safe, please help keep us safe,” said police.
