(TOWNSHIP OF THE NORTH SHORE)  On July 6, 2018, shortly after 9:00 p.m., members from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded for a call for service where a male was laying on the shoulder of Highway 17 in the Township of the North Shore.

A vehicle had stopped and the occupants of the vehicle had rendered assistance to the male. They had called for ambulance and a passing Anishinabek Police Service (APS) officer had stopped to assist.

OPP officers and Algoma Paramedic Services arrived a short time later and paramedics provided care for the male. While speaking to the male, officers detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath and observed him to have a slurred speech.

As a result of the investigation, Thomas SEARSON, 29 years of age from Sudbury, Ontario, was charged with: Being Intoxicated in Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.

The male was arrested and transported to Blind River Detachment where he was lodged overnight until sober.
