The Elliot Lake Historical Society has been incorporated and will join historical societies throughout the province operating under the guidance of the Ontario Historical Society.
News of the incorporation came from interim board chairman Edo Ten Broek.
The interim board includes Edo Ten Broek, vice-chair Marie Murphy-Foran, secretary/treasurer Geraldine Robinson and directors at large Doug Souliere and Ed Pearce.
“We are pleased to announce that the Elliot Lake Historical Society has been formally incorporated by the Province of Ontario and that we are official members of the Ontario Historical Society,” Ten Broek said in an email to ElliotLakeToday.
Local lawyer Douglas Elliott volunteered to assist in drawing up the incorporation documents. The incorporation took place following an inaugural public meeting in May attended by about 35 enthusiastic supporters.
“Our interim Board will be meeting shortly to prepare the next steps leading to a General Meeting in September to elect the official Board of Governance” he added.
