Inductees shine at Country Music Awards (6 photos)

The Sault hosted the 33rd annual Northern Ontario Country Music Awards this weekend as nine musicians from across the north were recognized for their talents and contributions

It’s northern Ontario’s biggest night in country music – and it’s been a long time coming.

After a two-year hiatus due to COVID, the Northern Ontario Country Music Awards returned to the stage this evening as travellers came in from all over the province to celebrate at the Quattro Hotel & Conference Centre.

Seven country musicians from across the north were inducted into the Great Northern Opry, while two were inducted into the NOCMA Hall of Fame, and they each performed a song at the awards show. 

Great Northern Opry inductees:

Dan Champagne – Timmins District

Claude Rocheleau – Timmins District

Lois Jones – Algoma District, representing Blind River

Kevin Meisenheimer – North Bay District

Claude Lecuyer – North Bay District, representing Sturgeon Falls

Urban Mejaki – Manitoulin District

Rolly Lafantaisie – Sudbury District

NOCMA Hall of Fame inductees:

Ron Schryer – Algoma District, representing Sault Ste. Marie

Scott Infanti – Sudbury District, representing Sault Ste Marie and Britt, Ont.
