Algoma Public Health is reporting a drop in the number of hospitalizations with COVID-19, and 64 new active cases, though that number may be an underestimation due to limits on who can be tested.

There are currently 12 people in hospital with COVID-19 in the region, down from 16 yesterday, and 615 active cases (plus two in non-Algoma residents in the region), which is up from 598 in Monday's report.

APH reports that there have been 47 resolved cases since the last report and 561 people have been tested since the last update.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
