The newly formed Elliot Lake Historical Society is holding its first annual general meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The meeting will take place at the Mt. Dufour ski chalet, according to interim chairman Edo Ten Broek.
The main purpose of the meeting is to elect a formal board of governors and to identify and plan the group’s first operational steps.
The society is also looking for members to assist with research, archiving, marketing, promotion, funding, and membership campaigns.
The Society is planning on creating an Elliot Lake history book with the goal of including all different facets of life in the community since its founding in 1956.
“If you are interested in joining the board, becoming a resource team member or a general member you can contact me (Edo) at [email protected] or call 705-849-8106,” he said.
