Community members are coming together to show support for a local family who's son, Elijah Hennessey, was born with severe deficiencies, including congenital heart disease. Community members have decided to plan a fundraiser for the family who have shown their support throughout the years. On March 15, Elijah underwent his first open heart surgery and is currently on the mend.

His mother, Jessie Hennessey has been sitting by his side at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto while his father, Tom Wallace, supports his family from Elliot Lake and visits. Elijah will need to remain in Toronto for an undetermined amount of time to heal while undergoing additional procedures.

The community volunteers are hoping other community members can come together and help them with the fundraiser for Elijah. Elijah is the grandson of long time community volunteers Darla and Howie Hennessey.

Nicknamed ‘Little Bean’, the fundraiser for Elijah, organized by community volunteers, will be held April 7 at the Collins Hall from 9 a.m until 4 p.m. A silent auction will be held at the hall until 3 p.m with a live auction with Len Hembruff immediately following. There will also be a yard sale, a BBQ, a bake sale, and dancing with live music throughout the day.

For those who would like to volunteer, contact either Joanne at 705-261-0844 or Beth at 705-261-1017.
