Four new COVID cases confirmed in Algoma

Algoma Public Health has confirmed four new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region.

Among the new cases, two are from north Algoma, one is from the Elliot Lake area, and one is from central and east Algoma.

The new cases bring the total number of COVID cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 181.

Cases 178 and 179 were both tested on Feb. 3 and fall under the exposure category of unknown.

Case 180, tested on Feb. 3, is in the exposure category of close contact, as is case 181, who was tested on Feb. 5.

Unknown exposure means the individual did not have any recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

Close contact exposure means the person was infected by close contact with a known confirmed case.

The new cases bring the number of active cases in Algoma to 25.
