Four arrested after cops pull over suspicious vehicle in Blind River

Three of the accused are facing drugs and weapons charges laid by the OPP

A suspicious vehicle in Blind River has led to charges against four people.

Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 21, officers with the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police were on patrol in Blind River when they saw a suspicious vehicle with four people inside.

After stopping the vehicle on Cobden Street, police saw an individual in the back passenger seat who was wanted on an outstanding charge. At the feet of the individual was a knapsack that, police say, had over 700 tablets of suspected methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $7,500 and over $400 in Canadian money.

While searching the vehicle police also found over 4.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine (estimated street value of $900) and a 12-gauge flare gun. All four occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

As a result, Joseph McQueen, 46, from Blind River was charged with:

  • possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
  • possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

Travis Budge, 34, from Spanish was charged with:

  • possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
  • fail to comply with probation order

Ernest Fisher, 37, from Spanish was charged with:

  • possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
  • possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine

Jared Joncas, 26, from Spanish was charged with:

  • possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine

None of the allegations and have been tested in court and all are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
