Fire bans lifted in Elliot Lake, Blind River

Fire Chief John Thomas and Fire Chief Ryan Belair announced today that due to improved fire conditions and lower fire ratings from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, the fire ban has been lifted for Elliot Lake and Blind River.

Fire permit rules and regulations must be followed. Contact your fire department should you have any questions.

Other North Shore Communities:

The Township of the North Shore lifted its fire ban as of 4 p.m. July 11. This includes the three primary village areas of Serpent River, Spragge, and Algoma Mills.

  • Espanola – fire ban lifted 4 p.m. July 11.
  • Thessalon – fire ban lifted as of 9 a.m. July 12.
  • Bruce Mines – fire ban still in effect. Fire chief to revisit it on Thursday.
  • Municipality of Central Manitoulin, Mindemoya, and Northeastern Manitoulin, Little Current – fire ban still in effect.
  • The Municipality of Huron Shores, Iron Bridge, reports their fire ban is still in effect but people may have campfires for cooking or warmth (no more than one meter wide and one meter high). All other fire permits are not activated, so burning brush is not allowed.
