Farrell Crescent fire causes $200K in damages

Fire Chief John Thomas announced today that on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 at 07:57 hours, the Elliot Lake Fire Department received a call for a working fire at a row house complex on Farrell Crescent.

Upon arrival on scene, the fire department crew reported smoke showing. Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly. Fire was contained to the one unit, with heavy damage in the kitchen area.

The fire was accidental and there are no injuries reported. Estimated damage was $200,000.

Fire Chief John Thomas would like to remind the public:
    •    To not place any articles on or near a stove top that are not used for cooking
    •    That every home in Ontario must have a working smoke alarm on every story and outside all sleeping areas
