Farquar family donates $16,000 to hospital

Golf tournament raises funds in memory of Wendell Farquar

Hospital foundation chairperson, Deborah Dubois, front left, received a $16,000 donation from the family of Wendell Farquar raised from a golf tournament organized by Wendell Farquar Trucking earlier this month. The St. Joseph’s General Hospital Foundation received a $16,000 donation from the family of Wendell Farquar after the Wendell Farquar trucking company hosted a golf tournament fundraiser earlier this month.

The money will go to current fundraising for improvements to the hospital pharmacy and oncology departments estimated to cost about $1.2 million.

Twenty teams with 80 players took part in the first annual fundraising tournament in Wendell Farquar’s name. Farquar passed away in late 2021 and was known for his support of the community, promotion, and contributions to Elliot Lake.
