The City of Elliot Lake is out to replace another senior staffer following the recent resignation of the city's Chief Building Official (CBO) Bruce Ewald. City CAO Dan Gagnon tells ElliotLakeToday a search for a new CBO will begin shortly. He says, "The city is securing interim resources to maintain all service levels in the Building Department and meet all operational and legislative requirements."  Mr. Ewald's resignation takes effect Sept 21.

Last month, City Treasurer Dr. Tim Vine announced his resignation after only a few months in the post.

He is assuming the post of Chief Financial Officer for a major health care organization on Manitoulin. The city is also involved in a search for the treasurer's replacement.

City land sold

At the same time, the City of Elliot Lake has sold a small piece of land in the existing public works yard on Timber Road to Timberlock International to accommodate expansion of their existing adjacent manufacturing plant.  Elliot Lake CAO Dan Gagnon says Timberlock will cover all of the city's legal and administrative expenses and provide $10,000 for the .59 acre piece of land which the city has been using for outside storage.

Elliot Lake Mayor Dan Marchisella said, "We are always glad to hear our land is being sold because that means something new is being built."
