Sarah Robb is stepping back in as Elliot Lake’s Community Emergency Management Coordinator after temporarily vacating the post during a temporary leave.
Fire chief John Thomas informed council of her return to the post at its regular meeting Monday evening. The decision also noted that Steve Antunes be designated as Emergency Information Officer.
“The Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (R.S.O. 1990) requires municipalities to develop and implement mandatory emergency management programs in conformity with regulations developed by Emergency Management Ontario,” the fire chief said in his report to council. “Collectively, these statutory requirements mandate how municipalities must prepare for, and respond to, emergency situations occurring within their jurisdictions.”
Council approved the motion of reinstatement.
