Blind River received special recognition and an award handed out by the Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) at its recent conference last week.

Blind River and Destination Northern Ontario won the award in the Tourism Attraction and Tourism Product Development Community Economic Development Initiative category for work done locally.

The town’s director of facilities and community services Karen Bittner received the award.

“We can’t be happier as a Council to see the goals of our community members come to life and be recognized,” said mayor Sally Hagman.   “Our staff work incredibly hard to bring Blind River’s Strategic Plan and Economic Development Strategy to fruition.  This accolade is a reminder that we are on the right path.”

The EDCO is an independent, non-profit association of persons engaged in economic development with a mission to enhance and develop an economically viable and environmentally responsible Ontario.
