East Algoma OPP constables join police in Ottawa

Part of province-wide police move to nation's capitalĀ

In the wake of the invocation of the Emergency Act by Prime Minister  Justin Trudeau, ElliotLakeToday has learned that members of the East Algoma OPP including officers from Elliot Lake, have been deployed to Ottawa to deal with the trucker's convoy.

In a posting on social media, Tracy Carne showed video footage of East Algoma OPP staff members boarding a large AJ Bus Lines highway cruiser adjacent to the weigh scales near the junction of Highway 17 and Highway 108.

In an email, East Algoma OPP Community Safety Officer Constable Phil Young confirmed, "Yes, I am deployed to Ottawa right now as well. There are officers here from all over the province to assist. As for how many EA officers were sent, I do not know. I also do not know what the staffing levels are in Elliot Lake and area."
