On Oct. 27, students and staff at Ecole catholique Georges Vanier (Elliot Lake) took part in Dress Purple Day activities.

Organized by the Ontario Association of Children's Aid Societies, the day offers students a special time to let them know that they have the right to be healthy, safe and happy.

Members of the Georges Vanier well-being committee took advantage of this day to offer several workshops and activities for students.

These, led by Julie Caissy, social work technician (CENO), and Melissa Holmes, social worker (CENO), made students from kindergarten to Grade 8 aware of the importance of having a support network and when to ask an adult for help.

Although the subject was a bit heavy, students had a great time and the day was a great success.
