Crash on Highway 639 ends in impaired charge for Elliot Lake woman

Police say there were no injuries

On June 2, 2019 at 2:20 p.m., East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were called to a single-motor-vehicle crash on Highway 639, just south of Mississaugi Park in Raimbault Township, Ontario. 

Upon police arrival, the lone female driver was spoken to and a strong odour of alcoholic beverage was detected emanating from her breath. She did not sustain any injuries. There were also numerous witnesses present who saw what happened. 

After police investigation, the female driver was arrested, driver's license suspended, and the vehicle was towed and impounded.

Holly Lane, 40 years of age, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC,
  • Careless driving, contrary to section 130(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake, Ontario on July 9, 2019.
