COVID vaccines available for little kids

Families can begin booking appointments across the Algoma district

Beginning this morning (July 28), parents and caregivers of children aged six months to under five years are now eligible to book an appointment for the paediatric COVID-19 vaccine.

Families can begin booking appointments across the Algoma district online or by phone at 705-541-7370 or toll-free 1-888-440-3730. Phone lines are open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to  4 p.m.

Participating pharmacies are also administering the paediatric COVID-19 vaccine to children aged 2 and older. Find a pharmacy near you here

The immunization effort for the youngest age group is expected to ramp up across the province in the coming days.

Health Canada approved Moderna's pediatric shot this month and Ontario's health minister says the vaccine is safe, effective and will help protect children from the virus. 

Immunocompromised youth aged 12 to 17 were also able to schedule second booster doses starting Thursday if six months had passed since their first booster dose.
