Elliot Lake Handi-Lift picks up a passenger.

Monday evening at 7 p.m., Elliot Lake City Council will consider a report from the Acting Director of Public Works, Bill Goulding. The report recommends approval of a proposal for a transit study.

Goulding’s report describes the background, “On March 22, 2021, the City signed the Investing in Canada’s Infrastructure (ICIP) – Transit Stream - Funding Agreement for a multi-year transit review project.”

Approving the proposal will allow the study work to begin.

EXP Services Inc. of Ottawa, ON, was the lowest of five bidders at $57,588. The proposal cost is $3,468 under the budgeted amount for this study project.

Goulding’s report describes the proposal as “Aimed at reviewing and improving overall accessibility and operations for a more reliable and higher quality transit service.”

Citizens interested in addressing council about this important matter must pre-register with the Municipal Clerk before noon on Monday.

Registered residents will be provided the opportunity to give a brief input at the beginning of the council meeting.

Council meetings are held at City Hall and are open to all residents. No registration is required to attend.
