Blind River council is donating $500 towards sponsoring a hole at the upcoming Cameco Charity Golf Tournament on Aug. 19.

The donation will come out of a promotional budget available to the council to make community donations.

All funds raised from the tournament will benefit the Cameco Fund for Mental Health and be disbursed to organizations undertaking charitable projects that promote or protect mental health in the Blind River area.

“Through the Step Up for Mental Health initiative, we want to promote a healthy lifestyle, involve our employees, and support mental health projects that will make a difference in our community in order to have the maximum benefit to the community,” Terry Davis, Cameco general manager, said in a letter to the council.

“We are looking for golfers, sponsors, and prize donations. To register or sponsor, please visit www.camecofuel.com/golf.”
