The decade-long career of Ashten Vlahovich at the City of Elliot Lake has come to an end.

"Elliot Lake’s Manager of Economic Development, Ashten Vlahovich, is no longer employed with the city," wrote CAO Daniel Gagnon in a brief statement issued this afternoon.

He noted that the city wishes Ms. Vlahovich nothing but the best in her future endeavours.

"The Economic Development functions have been temporarily reassigned to other city staff. A more in-depth review of the economic development and recreation areas is ongoing," he continued.

"That review is taking into consideration succession planning principles and the need to rebuild both operational areas as the pandemic impacts lessen. This review will lead into the 2022 budget process this fall.

"As with all confidential human resource matters, no further details are available," Gagnon concluded.

Vlahovich served as manager of the Economic Development Department in Elliot Lake for just over seven years.

She assumed the post in 2014 after serving for about two years prior as an intern in that department.

Vlahovich came to Elliot Lake City Hall in 2012 after earning a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree at Nipissing University.
