The City of Elliot Lake is urging local residents to be extra careful if they are on the roads tonight with the forecast calling for a generous downpour of rain in Elliot Lake over the next few hours.
In a release headlined "Please Be Aware" the city said: "The forecast is calling for significant rainfall in Elliot Lake over the next few hours into tomorrow morning, please use additional caution if travelling and keep clear of storm drains and manhole covers. Avoid areas prone to flash flooding such as creeks and waterways if possible."
Earlier today, Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning that included Elliot Lake and much of northern Ontario.
