The City of Elliot Lake has issued an update to last Friday's temporary partial closure announcement of the common area and Elliot Lake Public Library section of  the Pearson Plaza.

Elliot Lake CAO Daniel Gagnon issued this announcement Wednesday afternoon.

"As a  result of roof leaks occurring in the Pearson Plaza complex, the City of Elliot lake issued an order to rectify. The landlord, McCowan and Associates, notified the Elliot Lake Public Library late last week that it should vacate the leased premises in order for the landlord to carry out remedial work.

"The City will provide updates as information is received from the landlord as to the status of the repairs and the length of the closure.

"In the meantime, library patrons should take note of the following: All late fines will be waived as a result of the closure. Books can be returned using the drop box that remains at the entrance to the Pearson Plaza or kept until the library re-opens. The chief librarian can be reached at 705-848-2287 ext. 2116 for book renewals or similar service questions."
