NEWS RELEASE
CITY OF ELLIOT LAKE
******************************
On Monday, May 17 at 10 a.m., Mayor Dan Marchisella along with Chantal MacEachern, president of the Elliot Lake Pride Committee, raised the flag at City Hall to recognize the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOTB).

Since 2005, May 17 has been dedicated to the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, marking the day in 1990 when the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders.

IDAHOTB is celebrated in over 130 countries, uniting millions of people in support of the recognition of human rights for all, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is not one centralized campaign; rather it is a moment that everyone can take advantage of to take action.
