Elliot Lake City Council has approved the sale of a small piece of city-owned land on Timber Road as the site of a new self-storage facility.

The $12,500 sale was approved after coming before council as an addendum to the Sept. 14 regular council meeting.

Under the deal, H. J. Roy Gudgeon bought a .69-acre land parcel from Elliot Lake at 17 Timber Rd. where he plans to build self-storage units.

Under the agreement, Gudgeon pays: $5,000 as a deposit and the balance, $7,500 plus any applicable taxes, due on closing of the deal Oct. 9, 2020.

The deal gives the buyer until Oct. 8, 2021 to build 20 indoor storage units on the property. There is also a possibility for some outdoor storage.
