The City of Elliot Lake is cancelling public transit services for the day.

The decision, says the city, is in response to the current heavy snowfall, reduced visibility and unsafe driving conditions the area is experiencing.

Environment Canada says as much as 10 centimetres of blowing snow could fall in the region by Wednesday morning.

The heaviest snowfall is expected this evening and motorists are advised to stay off the roads if possible and exercise extreme caution if they find themselves needing to drive.
