Heading into Tuesday afternoon's special Elliot Lake City Council meeting, city CAO Daniel Gagnon wants to make everyone knows it's not his call to decide what Elliot Lake does with the land it may acquire at the former site of the Algo Centre Mall property adjacent to city hall, downtown.

Gagnon notes he never suggested the property would be used as the site for the long planned Community Hub. He told ElliotLakeToday that decision would only be made by members of Elliot Lake City Council.

The CAO recommended that council approve the purchase of the 13-acre former Algo Centre Mall property by passing a bylaw to adopt the agreement of purchase and sale with 2205730 Ontario Inc.

Gagnon further suggested the purchase be pre-approved as a 2019 expense in the municipal budget and referred to the ad hoc budget committee.

Tuesday afternoon's meeting where the purchase will be looked at will be held at Elliot Lake City Hall at 5 p.m.
