NEWS RELEASE

The Public Works Department will temporarily isolate the water service to some addresses in the Valley Crescent area to connect a temporary water line to provide water service during the reconstruction Valley Crescent.

In some circumstances, a change of this nature can compromise the quality of the water being delivered. For this reason, we have been instructed by the Algoma Health Unit to issue a boil water advisory for area residences.

Residents in that area should ensure that you bring all water used for domestic purposes such as drinking, brushing teeth, washing food, and making ice to a rolling boil for no less than one minute prior to use. It is important that all water sources accessible by staff or the general public are clearly marked as not for potable use.

This advisory measure is in place until such time as flushing and bacteriological testing verifies that your water is safe for consumption.

We will issue a notice indicating the boil water advisory has been lifted once test results indicate that the water is safe for consumption.

If there are any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Public Works Department at (705) 848-2287 ext. 2600.
