Warmer weather and melting conditions have forced the town to close the road which has given visitors the opportunity to drive vehicles on the road to view the popular ice mountains on the shores of Lake Huron.

Conditions on the road have deteriorated due to heavy traffic to view the ice mountains which has drawn up to 500 visitors each day.

Over the weekend the traffic has caused some poor driving conditions along the gravel road.

In an email from Mayor Sally Hagman, the closure is aimed at reducing damage to the 4 km roadway.

The mayor said that people can walk from the ski chalet to view the ice hills.
