Blind River students discover their local government, meet mayor

Field trip gave students better understanding of how municipal government works

Grade 4 and 5 students at École Saint-Joseph in Blind River have been learning more about citizenship and government at school.

As part of their Social Studies course, they recently had the pleasure of visiting Blind River’s Town Hall to meet Mayor Sally Hagman and Councillor Paula Summers.

Among other things, the field trip gave the students a better understanding of how municipal government works, the issues and responsibilities involved, and the role of the people who work there, according to a release from Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon.

"What a great learning experience!" the board said.
