Blind River students captivated by Abenaki storyteller

Students were able to better understand the great lessons that flow from the seven sacred teachings: humility, honesty, respect, courage, wisdom, truth and love

Last week, students at École Saint-Joseph (Blind River) had the honour of welcoming Mr. Daniel Richer Dit Laflêche, Abenaki storyteller. During a captivating workshop, this guest was able to transmit the richness of the culture of the Aboriginal peoples through legends and thus, encourage the acquisition of new knowledge among students. In addition, students were able to better understand the great lessons that flow from the seven sacred teachings: humility, honesty, respect, courage, wisdom, truth and love.

La semaine dernière, les élèves de l’école Saint-Joseph (Blind River) ont accueilli M. Daniel Richer Dit Laflêche, conteur et crieur abénaquis. Lors d’un atelier captivant, cet invité a su transmettre la richesse de la culture des peuples autochtones par le biais de légendes et ainsi, susciter de l’acquisition de nouvelles perspectives chez les élèves. De plus, les élèves ont pu mieux comprendre les grandes leçons qui découlent des sept enseignements sacrés: l’humilité, l’honnêteté, le respect, le courage, la sagesse, la vérité et l’amour.
