Blind River student shares Indigenous culture with classmates

Grade 3 student at École Saint-Joseph made a presentation about her regalia

As part of Truth and Reconciliation Week, Geneviève Niganobe, a Grade 3 student at École Saint-Joseph (Blind River), shared a piece of her culture with her school community.

In the morning, Geneviève made a presentation on the student radio on her traditional dress called regalia.

She explained that this garment is worn during cultural events, gatherings and ceremonies among First Nations peoples.

Geneviève took the opportunity to explain the importance and meaning of her clothing with École Saint-Joseph students and staff members.
