The Blind River and District Chamber of Commerce is planning a Blind River municipal Candidates’ Night on Wednesday, Sept. 26. It will be held at the Blind River Community Centre Hall, 110 Indiana Ave., beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m.

Candidates will be outlining issues they see as significant to Blind River and area as they seek election to the next four-year term in office.

“The purpose of the Candidates’ Night is to give Blind River voters an opportunity to hear candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this election," a Chamber notice of the meeting stated. “The event is free and open to the public. The candidates will answer both pre-selected questions as well as questions from the audience during this moderated event.”

There are three candidates seeking election to the mayor’s post. Incumbent mayor Sue Jensen is being challenged for the town’s top political job by Sally Hagman and Alex Solomon.

Seven candidates are seeking to win a seat on the six-member council. Incumbents Jim Dunbar, HP Roy, Clifford Spratt, Paula Summers will go off against new candidates Robert Ambeault and Betty Ann Dunbar.

The election will take place on Oct. 22. For more information on the local election, check out the town website.
