NEWS RELEASE
ARTS AND CULTURE ROUND TABLE OF ELLIOT LAKE
*************************
The Arts and Culture Round Table of Elliot Lake (ARIEL) took a one, two punch. First, the not-for-profit's office was lost when the Arts Centre was demolished. That hit was followed by the pandemic. Knocked down, but not out, the Board of Directors kept the organization fighting; surveying the 2022 candidates for Elliot Lake City Council about their support of the Arts and disseminating the information to its membership.

ARIEL has recovered sufficiently to begin a membership drive and announce an annual general meeting to be held June 8 at 7 p.m. at the Renaissance Centre. On the agenda is the election of a new Board of Directors. Additional business will be a discussion about opening an Art Gallery in Elliot Lake. ARIEL was the developer of the former Art Centre gallery.

ARIEL, founded in 2008, was formed to advocate on behalf of all Arts groups in Elliot Lake. Through the years, the organization developed a walking tour of the city's public art and played a leading role in the Downtown Art Project.

Residents of Elliot Lake do not have to be artists of any kind to be a member of ARIEL. Anyone with a love of the Arts who believes that the Arts contributes to the economy and the quality of life of the city is welcome.

To become a voting member of ARIEL residents must pay dues. Membership dues may be paid at the AGM before voting takes place.

To ask questions prior to the AGM email [email protected].
