The Elliot Lake Arts Club is hosting Arts on the Trail (AOTT) again this year and is now seeking artists interested in taking part in the popular arts event.

AOTT will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28. The Arts Club is looking for 50 artists to display their wares for sale at six different locations in the city, according to event coordinator JoAnne Nicholls.

“Many of the artists are residents of Elliot Lake,” she said. “To quote a 2023 participant, I didn’t realize there were so many talented artists in Elliot Lake.”

In 2023, the event drew more than 800 visitors.

Artists interested in taking part are asked to register and submit their completed registration form and fee by April 1, 2024. Those interested in taking part with their work can register online or download an application form at elliotlakeartsclub.ca/arts-on-the-trail.

The media categories include ceramics and stone, digital art, drawing/pastel, fabric/fibre, food art, glass, jewellery, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, print making and wood.

“Arts on the Trail is a free event open to the public. It is Elliot Lake’s premiere Visual Arts experience in 2024,” Nicholls said.

“The public has the opportunity to purchase artwork directly from the artists during the event. There will be a free hop-on, hop-off bus travelling from venue to venue throughout the day. The organizers are hoping that the Fall colours will, again, reach their peak in time for the 2024 event.”

The Elliot Lake Arts Club’s mission is “to encourage active participation in, and an appreciation of, the fine arts and crafts in Elliot Lake and vicinity.”

The club is a registered not-for-profit organization that runs art classes, raises funds for charitable causes, and contributes to the city’s public art.
