They've never played Elliot Lake before, but GTA-based Against the Wind (ATW) -- helping headline this month's Uranium Heritage Days weekend show on June 29 -- plans on making a strong appearance. They're the second band on the bill for the outdoor concert in the plaza downtown in Elliot Lake on Canada Day weekend.

ATW is a 10-member Bob Seger tribute group that blends the high energy of Seger-rock with the heartfelt iconic melodies that remain etched in the memories of Seger fans. Jeffrey Dean Goldstein is their drummer, founder and business expert. He was determined to attract the musicians and business allies that would fulfill the goal he set for himself of building an internationally respected, one-of-a-kind Seger experience. As the drummer for ATW, Jeff locks down the groove and drives this 10-piece powerhouse band with his solid back beat rock style.

Leading off the festivities on June 29 are the Mudmen. They describe themselves as, "A blast of Celtic energy whose members are known to be characters both on and off the stage." First discovered in 1993 as The Campbell Brothers, the band signed a deal with EMI Records and changed their name to The Mudmen in 1998. With nearly 300 shows to date, The Mudmen -- Robby Campbell, Sandy Campbell, Jeremy Burton, Mike Meacher and Dan Westenenk -- believe that nice guys can finish first, while enjoying life and what you do translates to all audiences.

The highlight of Uranium Heritage Days, the Street Dance gathers the community together to enjoy family, friends and great entertainment and music. This is a licensed 19-plus event. Gates open at 6 p.m. and bands start at 6:30 p.m. The dance wraps at 1 a.m. Featured bands include The Mudmen (Celtic rock), Against the Wind: The Ultimate Bob Seger Tribute (classic rock), and Larry Berrio (country) with openers, Chill (classic rock).

Tickets are $23 in advance or $34 at the gate. Tickets are available at the box office located at the Elliot Lake Welcome Centre at Collins Hall on Hillside North and by calling 800-661-6192.
