With snow forecast for today and tomorrow, 96 drivers and their machines are registered to take part in the Mt. Dufour Hill Climb Saturday and conditions are perfect for it.

The drivers will run the course based on the time it takes to complete it. Prizes will go to the fastest drivers and their machines.

Organizer Dave Brunet said the “gates are open to the public at 9 a.m.”

It’s more than 20 years since a similar event was held here and organizers have teamed up with the city to put in place all the required regulations to ensure the climb is conducted safely.

Those planning to attend at the ski hill are encouraged to take advantage of free bus shuttles as it’s expected the Mt. Dufour parking lot will be filled with vehicles needed to tow snow machines into the event area.

Shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They will go from the Rexall parking lot, Centennial Arena, Glendon Dog Park adjacent to Washington Cres., the parking lot in the upper plaza in front of Aube Law offices, Rio Den arena parking lot, municipal pool parking lot, NAPA Power Sports beside No Frills and the MTO yard on Highway 108 across from RONA.
