Active COVID cases rise slightly, hospitalizations remain the same: APH

The number of hospitalizations in Algoma remain steady in Algoma Public Health's latest COVID-19 update.

APH is reporting 11 hospitalizations in the region as part Thursday's update, which stays in line from Wednesday's report.

The number of active cases in the region rose by 11 to 601. There are also three active cases in Algoma that are non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region.

The number of new confirmed cases in Algoma rose to 4,976, up by 58 from Wednesday's update while the number of resolved cases rose by 47 to 4,385.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
