The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says it has sent an incident management team to support wildland fire efforts in British Columbia

Two new forest fires were confirmed in Ontario's northeast today, but one of them is already out.

Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services said Timmins 11 was confirmed this afternoon.

The other fire, North Bay 16, located on an island off the east shore of Lady Evelyn Lake, is 0.1 hectares and is not under control.

There are currently 35 active wildland fires in the Northeast Region, the AFFES reported.

Of these, one is not under control, five are under control and 29 are being observed.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said that on Friday, an 18-person incident management team left to support wildland fire efforts in British Columbia, where several communities were threatened by the serious fire situation there.

The MNRF said it currently has more than 100 personnel from Ontario assisting in British Columbia and the Northwest Territories.

Meanwhile the MNRF said that, back in Ontario, the wildland fire hazard from Timiskaming Shores north to Moosonee is high.

Along Lake Huron and south of Sudbury the hazard is moderate, and there is a low hazard in the Far North.
